Hamilton Rentals for Events & Exhibitions
The Client - A City Council
The Requirement - For the last 3 years, Hamilton Rentals has worked with the client to provide an onsite internet café for a local music festival for use by the festival goers.
The Solution - Hamilton’s supplied 10 laptops and 10 desktop PCs with monitors for the annual event. The event only runs for 3 days each year, so purchasing the equipment for the internet café was not an economical option. The equipment was configured and tested before delivery and supplied with fully licensed software via Microsoft.
The Outcome - 2010’s event will take place in August and Hamilton Rentals have again won the contract to supply the computer hardware. Whilst only a relatively small event, The Council depend and rely on Hamilton’s to deliver a prompt service and have been extremely happy each year. This has given Hamilton Rentals the opportunity to talk about helping the Council save money in other areas.
Hamilton Rentals for Speed of Provisioning
The Client - A large London based legal firm.
The Requirement - A temporary office of 40 PCs and monitors for a 3 month period at a 3rd party site.
The Solution - Hamilton’s undertook the configuration, build, set-up and installation of 40 systems at the 3rd party site all within a 2 day period from receipt of order. Since the initial delivery and installation, another 10 systems have been order configured and installed. The project is likely to be extended for a further 6 months.
The Outcome - The client was particularly pleased with the quick turnaround of their orders, and the flexibility to increase the number of systems on a next day basis, as & when they need them.
Hamilton Rentals for Training Courses
The Client - A Cisco approved training provider.
The Requirement - The client runs a number of Cisco specific training courses throughout the year.
The Solution - For the last 6 months Hamilton Rentals has developed a strong business relationship with the client, which required differing levels of IT & Networking equipment for periods of one day to one month.
The equipment rented for these courses has included laptops, desktop PCs, servers IP phones & various Cisco switches & firewalls. The training courses are often arranged at very short notice and vary significantly with candidates per course, drop outs and seasonal training structures - with differing kit levels depending on the client customers' requirements.
The Outcome - Renting enables the client to offer a wider range of courses to their customers without having to purchase expensive IT networking equipment and choose to take and return kit as and when needed, almost on a pay as you use model.
Hamilton Rentals for Flexibility & Ease of use
The Client - An HR & resourcing consultancy, primarily dealing with the NHS.
The Requirement - In January 2009 the client’s business expanded to include a new team of thirty divisional representatives covering the whole of the UK. At the time of the teams inception, it wasn’t clear whether or not the new staff would be permanent or temporary, so with a remit of needing 30 laptops for an initial period of 6 months they contacted Hamilton Rentals.
The Solution - Hamilton Rentals were able to offer a number of flexible options to suit the specific configuration needs, supplying 30 dual core laptop computers fully configured for each individual salesperson, such as the setting up of business email accounts and online backup subscriptions.
The Outcome - The client was particularly happy with the free of charge office hours support and the flexibility to extend, upgrade or even purchase the hardware at any time during the 6 month period. The project has been a success and the rental is looking very likely to extend beyond the initial 6 month period. The client has also been in contact about a possible further 25 systems for an additional new team.
Hamilton Rentals for product availability
The Client - A leading IT services provider
The Requirement - A temporary increase the storage capacity within the companies data centre was required for a short term data recovery/transfer project
The Solution - Hamilton Rentals were requested to supply a specific model of a HP MSL Tape Library for a short term hire. The Tape library was an end of life product which was unavailable to purchase via normal channels.
The Outcome - Hamilton Rentals managed to source the unit allowing the client to complete the project within the designated time scales they were contracted to.
Hamilton Rentals for Innovative Solutions
The Client - A large global SI
The Requirement - Following the acquisition of a smaller SI, our customer was faced with a situation where their end user client was unwilling to allow their software to be used in the Si’s data centre due to intellectual rights.
The Solution - Hamilton Rentals were approached to provide a 9 month rental of 9 x HP servers, 21 TB of storage, back up tape systems and network switching to be hosted on an independent third party site.
The Outcome - The flexible contract allowed the customer to run the system on a short term basis, with the facility to upgrade mid-term, on an independent site. The customers systems were uninterrupted, and the short term and flexible nature of the contract allowed time for the legal issues around intellectual rights to be resolved.
Hamilton Rentals for Data Centre Relocation
The Client - A large UK based Telecommunications Company
The Requirement - The customer was looking to move a large amount of hardware from one data centre to another.
The Solution - Hamilton Rentals were approached to supply 4 x HP UNIX servers, 2 x HP Alpha servers and 15TB of EVA storage, for a 6 month period. The equipment was used as a temporary “swing” kit environment, running the customers applications while the production systems were safely switched off, moved and re-installed on the new site.
The Outcome - The temporary hardware allowed the customer to move their equipment with the knowledge that their live production systems would suffer zero down time. They paid only for the exact period of use, avoiding the large capital outlay involved in purchasing high value equipment required only for a temporary period. They alleviated risk, and saved cash by calling on Hamilton’s flexible rental services.
Hamilton Rentals for Asset Management
The Client - National Office Equipment and Office Supplies Company
The Requirement - Following the acquisition of two new sites there was a pressing need to get to grips with the hardware and software that was in situ. This was needed in order to establish the current asset base and the relative licensing position of their new acquisition.
The Solution - Hamilton were able to perform a physical audit of both sites using hand-held PDA’s feeding information into a bespoke database. At the same time Hamilton were able to run a scan across the network of both sites identifying both hardware and software. As part of the service, Hamilton delivered a report where both the physical audit as well as the electronic scan results were brought together to form one cohesive asset inventory.
The Outcome - This project highlighted to the client that not only did they own physical assets that they were unaware of, but they were also under-licensed and therefore had exposure regarding licensing compliance. By engaging with Hamilton they have been able to address the compliance issues and are now talking to Hamilton about ongoing Asset Management across their whole estate.
Hamilton Rentals for Remarketing Services
The Client - Leading International IT Company
The Requirement - In dealing with one of their clients this customer had a disposal requirement for a large quantity of Cisco equipment. Having explored their historical routes of disposition, they felt that they were somehow not receiving best value. It was with this in mind that they approached Hamilton Asset Management.
The Solution - Hamilton were able to utilise their expertise and experience to identify a customer who could deliver to the customer’s value expectation.
The Outcome - Having initially been offered circa £70k, Hamilton were able to deliver £117k. This has led to continued trading with Hamilton as a preferred disposition route.
Hamilton Rentals for End of Life Asset Management
The Client - A large UK based Telecommunications Company
The Requirement - The customer was looking to remove large volumes of surplus IT storage and server equipment from its data centres, ensuring that all equipment was disposed of in compliance with the Data Protection Act and the WEEE Regulations, whilst at the same time minimising the cost of the project.
The Solution - Hamilton provided a solution that removed all the equipment from the data centres, transported it to Hamilton’s Sunbury facility, processed the equipment including CESG approved data cleansing and captured data for each individual asset using both Hamilton and customer asset tags. The processed equipment was then sold utilising Hamilton’s specialist asset remarketing team with the value gained used to offset the collection, auditing and processing costs.
The Outcome - The project was highly successful, removing all surplus IT equipment, adhering to environmental and data protection standards, providing all relevant reports and certification and reducing the customer’s disposal costs significantly.
